Hello! My name is JoEllyn Moroney and I've been teaching General/Vocal Music for the past 10 years. I love children and I am overjoyed to have found a home at LaGrange District 105!
I've taught PreK-8th grade all over the south suburbs - Oak Forest, South Holland, Harvey, University Park, Joliet, and Burr Ridge but am very comfortable and impressed with D105, and hope to have a long and happy tenure here!
I love working with the K-6th Grade students and want to share what we are doing in the classroom with you. Please contact me to receive your specific codes for following your student on "Homeroom" (similiar to IG but for classrooms) and getting text message reminders from me through "Remind" app.
The music curriculum I present to students includes engaging and authentic experiences leading to skills and knowledge in the areas of Music, Theater, and Dance. My ultimate goal is to instill a lifelong love of learning and of the arts among students. We study music to enhance and enrich the quality of our lives, so that we are able to participate fully in musical culture of our entire global society, and for the joy and personal satisfaction that is inherent to music.
Activities I include in my classes: singing, dancing, playing instruments, creating, performing, listening and analyzing music!
All pedagogy is aligned with the National Standards in Music Education and Illinois State Fine Arts standards. I teach from World Music Drumming and Orff-Schulwerk!
In my time away from teaching, I enjoy some of the following things:
